Renegades defense holds down Patriots

By Renegades Staff 08/08/2016, 11:15am CDT

Renegades win 14-8

New Hope – The Renegades have made franchise history by beating the South Metro Patriots on the 6th by a score of 14-8.  The game was expected to be a defensive battle and it turned out to be that just indeed.  The Renegades were held to just over 100 yards of total offense.  QB, Ryan Fay went 7 of 15 for 53 yards and 1 TD to WR Devin Payment, who also scored a two point conversion.  RB Sean Hayden led the ground game with 45 yards and a rushing TD.

The big plays came on defense.  The Renegades put up 7 sacks led by All Star Kyle Crozon with 3 of them and 8 tackles.  The defense held the Patriots offense to negative yards in the 1st half.  The secondary was ice cold keeping Patriots QB Brandon King from doing anything in the 2nd Qtr as well.  The Renegades defense sealed the game with a INT from Ben DeLisle in the last minute of the game.

The Renegades will be heading to Fargo to battle the Invaders in Premier Bowl VI for the 1st time in the teams history.  The Renegades have not been able to score on the Invaders defense all year, so the odds are against the Renegades already.  The Renegades offense has been on fire as of late with a solid running game behind their All Star Offensive line.  QB Ryan Fay will have a full arsenal of weapons this time.  Each of the two games the Renegades and Invaders have played have come where the Renegades have been short handed.  The game will be played on the 13th at 6 PM at the Invaders home field.
