The West Central Broncos opened their fourth season in style

DULUTH — The West Central Broncos opened their fourth season in style Saturday, shutting out the Northland Blitz 65-0 at Duluth Public School Stadium.

The Broncos scored in every quarter and owned a 22-0 lead after the first quarter before scoring another three times in the second quarter to take a commanding 42-0 lead at halftime.

Jay Greenhill completed 8 of 12 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Cameo King was on the receiving end of all of the TD passes — 33, 31 and 88 yards — and finished hauling in five passes for 167 yards.

The Broncos also owned the ground as Mickell Maloyd and Maverick Whitcomb had two touchdowns each. Maloyd ran for 121 yards while Greenhill and Keante Johnson also scored on the ground.

Defensively, Alfred Richards ignited the Broncos by piling up nine tackles, two sacks and an interception. Trevick Lewis had two interceptions, Rene Vallejo was in on eight tackles and Eric Johnson notched two sacks.

The Broncos are on the road next Saturday to play the Fargo Invaders at Fargo Shanley High School at 7:30 p.m.
