Mickell Maloyd rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown to help the West Central Broncos stymie the Midwest Monarchs 23-6

NEW LONDON — Mickell Maloyd rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown to help the West Central Broncos stymie the Midwest Monarchs 23-6 on Saturday.

The Broncos forced six turnovers and shut out the Monarchs’ offense. The lone Midwest score came in the third quarter on a fumble recovery.

West Central ran for 331 yards as a team as Cameron Halverson piled up 71 yards on just seven carries and Josh Hall added 69 yards on seven touches.

Hall also threw a 43-yard scoring strike to Cameo King in the first quarter. Tre Scott hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from Steve Peppin in the second quarter.

Maloyd followed the Midwest score with an eight-yard run that capped the scoring.

Jarrett McAllister ignited the Broncos defense with 11 tackles and an interception. Rene, Eric Johnson and Cam Young also had a pick, while Blake Williams and Patricio Lopez both had a fumble recovery.

The Broncos host the Midwest Nightmare on July 11 at NLS High School at 7 p.m. with playoff implications on the line.
